LUMS CARMA 2010...

We were extremely glad to have an opportunity to go to Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to participate in a journalistic event where the teams were supposed to give a presentation. Since the topic was relevant to news writing and analysis I found no better person than Sir Humair to help us. He helped us verbally but out his sheer negligence, handed the written material to a rival team. Poor us, we had to run all around our department, screaming to get our hands on those notes. But the other team had vowed to ramin our rival till the ends.

Well, may be it was our luck.. May be we had to give our presentation without that "Big" help.. It is quite understandable when your rival team doesn't let you move forward, but what was the fault of our poor sir when he wanted those notes back and had to go through the same pain that we went through...

Rupert Murdoch it is...!!!

During the last few theoratical classes of online journalism Sir was consistently talking about "someone". Since Sir is hardly audible from the back, in spite of great efforts, I was unable to understand the name of that person almost till the end of class. Finally I dared and asked him to repeat the name... I heard him saying "Robert Muldog".

In the next class I managed to get seat some what in the front where I heard him saying "Roobert Muldock" during the session. I made spelling correction in the last lecture and then tried to concentrate on what he was teaching. Even from that seat the class was more like a mute tv to me as I could only see him teaching without getting a single word except "Roobert Muldock".

Since in both the lectures I couldnt manage to listen to what actually sir was tellng us about "Roobert Muldock" I searched him on the internet. Only then I got to know the name is actually "Rupert Murdoch...!!"
And all that I read about him on the internet I only remember that Rupert Murdoch married the third time when he was 68 and had two kids after that...He had his first child in 1958 and the sixth and last one in 2003..!! BRAVO

You will get the keys back if......... :P

I got hold of sir Humair's car keys one day. He forgot them on the rostrum. I, along with my friends, went to him and showed him the keys. He smiled and raised his hand to get the keys back..I was like "Aaan Aaaaaannn...ese nai :p". On the same day we had our news writing midterm paper so I thought of making full use of the opportunity by asking him to consider my marks (I was pretending that I am joking..but was pretty serious about it :P) plus we showed him his sketch drawn by a friend of mine on the condition that he will not mind.

What you guys would have possibly asked for if you were given the same opportunity??

"Which dot are you and why?"

It would be more appropriate to call the exam of Online journalism a part of "Mental Assessment" rather than Midterm Assessment. A unique exam of its type where students were supposed to think thoroughly before they could write anything, an exercise that is rarely carried out in our institutions and disliked by student and teachers alike. I can't say anything about teachers but students, I am sure they have much more important tasks to do than "thinking".
A straight line was drawn on the board followed by a dotted line beneath it. We were asked to do three things:

1- Think of three different situations

2- Choose a dot for ourselves in each situation

3- Write down "which dot we are and why".

Everyone was Topsy-turvy when the question was revealed. Students were giving Oscar winning quality & variety of expressions. Teacher was made to repeat what are we actually supposed to do five times still few were behaving as if everything went like an aero-jet right from the top of their heads. The hilarious part is, in such an assessment where one could write anything, some chaps were still trying to copy what the person sitting next to them was writing. As I have mentioned earlier, it is the class of intellectuals I am talking about..you can expect anything and everything from them. But I am glad no one raised his hand and said "Sir it is not included in our syllabus...how could you ask us something out of the course".
